It’s no wonder to us as to why we’ve seen so many different roasters carrying coffee from Yabitu Koba this year. This coffee is both so so sweet and so so floral. We may be partial, but we think Hex did something special with this one ;)
Here is an excerpt from Hex website on Yabitu Koba:
“Yabitu Koba is a coffee made up of a blend of what are called "Semi-Forest" and "Garden" Coffees in Ethiopia. Semi-Forest coffees are picked from naturally growing coffee trees located in forested areas, while Garden coffees are picked from cultivated and tended trees located near a farmer's residence. The ability for coffee to be harvested in such a manner is wholly unique to the beautiful landscape that Ethiopia yields for coffee production. This also allows this particular washing station, named Hana Asrat; to be entirely supported by smallholder farms.
By sourcing exclusively from these farms, they're able to create new opportunities for smallholder farmers whose coffee might not have been marketable as premium specialty coffee. Giving farmers access to state of the art processing through their washing station creates value for farmers while building consistency and quality.”
